ABC Haymarket, 1971

£80.00

Hand drawn pen & ink artwork by Ben Holland.

A project of Dixon Scott (who also commissioned the News Theatre, now the Tyneside Cinema), the ‘Haymarket Cinema’ opened in 1933. Associated British Cinemas (ABC) acquired the building in 1936 and it went on to become one of the busiest cinemas in Newcastle. The ABC closed with a showing of ‘Purple Rain’ in 1984 and the building was demolished in 1985.
